CELLAR DOOR  – An introduction to LIOCO. $50

08 CHARDONNAY, SONOMA COUNTY - It is on the shoulders of this wine that LIOCO builds its name in the marketplace. You will see it in fine eateries across the country-stop by and enjoy a glass at Nopalito in SF, Toscana in LA, or The Modern in NY. This Chardonnay displays an orgy of orchard fruits---specifically stone-fruit pits---mixed with rock dust and dried lemon peels. The wine calls for obvious choices from the sea: scallops, crab, sea bass, etc. but also works well with Asian food.

07 INDICA, MENDOCINO - We call this a "California Heritage Blend" because it is composed of some of the state's oldest grape varieties. The wine has immediate brightness---is flamboyant even, and shows mouth-watering red fruits, violets, and sun-baked herbs. It is well-suited to a whole host of foods--some of our favorites: carnitas, duck confit, roasted chicken. Should also be a dead ringer for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas Dinner.

PREMIER CRU  – The next level. $100

07 CHARDONNAY "DEMUTH VINEYARD, ANDERSON VALLEY - This vineyard reminds us of the praised vineyards in Burgundy's Pouilly-Fuisse. The wine smells of pressed white flowers, citrus oil and rock dust. The flavors include green pears, lemon custard, and minerals galore. Dungeness crab season is here. Break out the bibs and pull some corks!

07 PINOT NOIR, CARNEROS - "Once in ten years" was a local farmer's assessment of how often the fog engulfed Carneros celebrates a vintage of this quality. The wine displays the telltale aroma of true Carneros Pinot: Sour red plums. And crushed black cherries, lilac, and baking spice. It calls for slow roasted duck, but cheat like we do and order-in Peking Duck from your favorite Chinese spot.

GRAND CRU  – Our very finest cuvees. $135

07 CHARDONNAY "CHARLES HEINTZ VINEYARD", SONOMA COAST - The Heintz Ranch is home to some of the California coast's finest Chardonnay. This wine is like a kernel of sun, enveloped by a cold mountain stream. Prepare for a bouquet of orange blossoms, kettle corn, and wet sand. The flavors include lemon oil, jasmine, and a sneaky minerality. Open a bottle with duck or lobster, or lay it down for 5+ years for a golden surprise.

07 PINOT NOIR, "MICHAUD VINEYARD", CHALONE - "The limestone speaks," we often cry when tasting this wine. This 07 Pinot Noir "Michaud Vineyard" may our wine of the vintage. It's been likened to Ambroise Le Corton (one of Burgundy's greatest Pinot Noirs). Stephen Tanzer adds, "potent, exotic, mineral." Harvest that wild boar in the yard and drink down a bottle.

PINOTS ONLY x 3  - Three current Pinot Noir releases. $135

07 PINOT NOIR, "KLINDT VINEYARD", ANDERSON VALLEY - This wine shows the signature flavors/aromas of the Anderson Valley which we love: red raspberries & rose petals. But there is also something extra-something best described as "forest floor." Buy a pork butt. Cook it at low temp for a long time in its own fat. Try not the finish this bottle before the meat is done.
